Citizens´ participation
The Foundation promotes innovations in the field of active citizens’ participation and citizens’ democratic control regarding the development of society. Citizens’ participation is indeed a key element in ensuring the success of sustainable development.
The Foundation has promoted and co-financed a number of citizens participation initiatives, primarily citizens deliberations and citizens panels, at a various levels of governance:
- G1000, the citizens' summit (2011-2012)
- European Citizens' Panel on the future of rural areas (2006-2007)
- Belgian citizens' panel on Genetically Modified Organisms / GMO’s (2003)
- Walloon citizens' panel on rural areas (2006-2007)
- Walloon citizens' panel on territorial development (2001)
